About Us

Michael’s WonderWorld™ and the Halo Care Collective (HCC) were inspired by Michael Arkell, son of Sarah and James Arkell and the grandson of Lamar Hunt Jr.  Michael was born with a rare genetic condition, is non-verbal, is fed through a tube, and relies on a wheelchair for mobility.  The family heard about Morgan’s Wonderland, a theme park in San Antonio designed with accessibility in mind, and realized how families in the Midwest from such a facility.  This realization led to the creation of Michael’s WonderWorld, a fully-integrated theme park, and Halo Care Collective – which are designed to provide enriching recreation and supportive care and services for attendees.

Upon its opening, Michael’s WonderWorld will be a fully-accessible theme park with a sports theme, reflecting the strong connection that Lamar Hunt Jr. and the Arkell family have with the Kansas City sports communities, through the ownership of the Kansas City Mavericks ECHL hockey team and the family’s ownership participation in the Kansas City Chiefs. The park’s attractions will highlight the sports theme and include a wide range of sports activities.
